Itinerary

Day 1 | Arrive Switzerland
A quick train journey takes you from Zürich to Lucerne. Board the Luzern-Interlaken Express for a journey along the shores of crystal clear lakes, past romantic waterfalls and over the breathtaking Brünig Pass to Interlaken, overlooked by the magnificent trio, the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Overnight in Interlaken.

Day 2 | Jungfraujoch
After breakfast, take a trip to the world famous Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe awaits this morning! Experience the views from Europe’s highest railway station, heading up to gaze over the Aletsch Glacier at over 3,454m above sea level. Overnight in Interlaken.

Day 3 | Interlaken
Enjoy a relaxing cruise on board a paddle steamer around Lake Thun and/or Lake Brienz. Overnight in Interlaken.

Day 4 | Interlaken - Montreux
After breakfast board the Golden Pass train from Interlaken in the panoramic carriage as it sweeps through the many vineyards and country estates on its way to Montreux. Enjoy the sweeping views over Lake Geneva. Overnight in Montreux.

Day 5 | Montreux
Visit the UNESCO vineyards of Lavaux and sample some of the delicacies of the region. After a short train journey from Montreux to Rivaz and a short walk up to the ‘Vinorama’, your Swiss wine experience begins with a short film about the region followed by a wine tasting. Overnight in Montreux.

Day 6 | Montreux - Zermatt
Breakfast at your hotel. Morning at leisure. Take some time to stroll along the lakeside in Montreux or visit the famous Château de Chillon.
Early afternoon continue by train to Zermatt. Overnight in Zermatt.

Day 7 | Zermatt
Breakfast at your hotel. Day at leisure. Zermatt offers various excursions up to the surrounding peaks. The Gornergrat Railway is one of the most iconic excursion in Switzerland. At an altitude of 3089m above sea level you enjoy breath-taking panoramic views of hundreds of peaks, 29 of which are over 4000 metres high, with the Matterhorn right in the centre. On the way down you can hike on one of the trail between the stations en route along the railway line. Overnight in Zermatt.

Day 8 | Glacier Express
Enjoy the legendary Glacier Express experience in full from Zermatt to St. Moritz, a thrilling journey in a panoramic carriage taking in some of the most dramatic scenery Switzerland has to offer. The exhilarating journey takes you along the deep Rhone valley, over the dramatic Oberalp Pass and through the Rhine Gorge to glamorous St. Moritz in the afternoon.
Overnight in St Moritz.

Day 9 | St. Moritz
Day at leisure. The St. Moritz transport card offers you unlimited travel on the public network and on most of the mountain railways or cable car. Corviglia, Corvatsch or Diavolezza are only some of the options or maybe you prefer the philosopher’s walk on top of Muottas Muragl. Overnight in St. Moritz.

Day 10 | Bernina Express
Today board the Bernina Express and journey to the Mediterranean climes of Lugano. Travel over circular viaducts and through winding tunnels passing through Brusio and Poschiavo. At Tirano, change to the Bernina Express bus takes you through Italy along the lakes back to Switzerland and Lugano. Overnight in Lugano.

Day 11 | Lugano
Why not visit Monte San Salvatore today - Lugano’s house mountain? A funicular railway takes you from Lugano-Paradiso to the top of this famous peak for magnificent 360° panoramic views over the beautiful blue lake. Overnight in Lugano.
Day 12 | Lugano - Lucerne
Travel on the Gotthard Express from the Mediterranean south to the traditional heart of Switzerland. The Gotthard route is truly mesmerising, and the lake cruise from Flüelen to Lucerne on an old paddle steamer tops off your rail adventure. Evening at leisure. Overnight in Lucerne.

Day 13 | Lucerne
Why not explore the Old Town and walk across the iconic Chapel Bridge or enjoy the views from Mount Rigi – Queen of the Mountains via boat and rail. Overnight in Lucerne.

Day 14 | Depart Switzerland
After breakfast depart Lucerne and continue your onward journey.

Please Note:

  • A one-way only seat reservation per person aboard the Glacier Express train is included in this package. Seat reservations are not included unless otherwise stated.
  • GoldenPass: Due to maintenance work the MOB GoldenPass line will be closed between Montbovon and Château-d’Oex from 18 Mar – 2 Jun 2018. A replacement bus service will be operating during this period. During this period it will not be possible to make individual seat reservations between Montreux and Zweisimmen.
  • The GoldenPass MOB Belle Époque carriages will operate from 01 July 2018.
